Ford Launches Preview on its Models’ New Colors

Posted by writer  Published in Ford Edge, Ford News

The globally acclaimed Ford Motor Company is introducing a new set of colors for its automotive models this month. The launching of the new colors prepared by the designers and engineers of Ford is actually a response to consumers’ developing interests.

A number of the new colors is open to the public for the month of September. Mercury vehicle models in the latest colors can be viewed in New York City at the Fashion Week event, which started on September 5 and will end on September 12.

On the other hand, some of the new shades are parading on the road by now. The Ford Edge Crossover in burning copper color and the Lincoln automobiles in white choco have been recently released in the market.

Results of several studies prompted the design team of Ford to come up with fresher colors to complement the innovative models of Ford. About 60 percent of the automobiles sold in the United States are available only in four fundamental colors – black, white, silver, and red. Despite the availability of various tones, consumers in general start to find these usual colors monotonous. They yearn for striking colors that move away from the standard.

According to a study conducted by the research team of Ford, just about 40 percent of consumers will storm out of a transaction if the exact color of vehicle they desire would not be available. Moreover, automobiles that come in trendy colors are found to sell more swiftly than those with ordinary dull colors. Moreover, there are some customers who are more than willing to pay out extra dollars just to get the precise color that they desire.

The consumer research contributed a lot in the attempt of Ford designers and engineers to create transformation in Ford vehicle colors in the Dearborn product development laboratory. The vision of Ford design team is to give at least 45 percent of Ford, Mercury and Lincoln vehicles new colors by the year 2009, which is essentially the grandest color makeover in the history of Ford.

According to Ford Group Chief Designer for Colors, Materials and Interiors Susan Lampinen, the entire color revolution of Ford is actually a big and significant change. “What we are doing is going after paint leadership. We know it’s something that seals the deal.”

Three years had already passed since engineers and designers of Ford Motor Company first began to work on this color revamp. They carefully studied the trend and the budding interests of Ford’s target market. They observed advancement in different facets such as architecture, cuisine, clothing styles, and manufactured goods. “We figure if customers are going to commit to a brightly colored washer and dryer or sofa, for instance, they’re apt to also choose a bolder-colored vehicle,” expressed Lampinen.

Ford supposes that the innovation in the colors of its models can actually boost the little sales it incurred throughout the month of August. Furthermore, Ford considers that such endeavor can take the sales improvement to coming years, as it banked on giving 2009 models like the Ford Flex a very impressive set of color options.
