Ford Re-evaluates Decision to Sell Land Rover and Jaguar

Posted by writer  Published in Ford Land Rover, Ford Jaguar, Ford News

Ford Motor Company is re-evaluating its intention of selling its two premier products Land Rover and Jaguar as it sees light in the performance of the two brands.

Reports from sources familiar with the development stated that the little improvement in sales and image of Land Rover and Jaguar made the management of Ford more confident about the brands. For this reason, the company plans to go back over its decision to put these Ford products up for sale. Furthermore, the success of the Jaguar XF in the Frankfurt Auto Show is another factor that holds back the idea of a sale. Even though the future of Jaguar is vague, a positive response from auto show goers offers a pinch of hope to the struggling automotive company.

Ford is currently pondering on the opportunity to trade only its small stakes to companies. On the other hand, the board members of the automotive firm have developed enthusiasm to hold on to the control of management. In view of that, Indian companies Tata and Mahindra’s proposals may lose their feasibility. Moreover, if only small brands will be offered, the interest of Tata and Mahindra for a sale may eventually fall off.

According to some sources, bankers who are involved in the proposed sale have recommended the company to carry on its plan of putting up a full sale for Land Rover and Jaguar. The bankers claimed that selling the two brands would be the best way to strengthen the waning condition of Ford.

Keeping hold of a minority stake that will draw board members from both Ford and the company that will win the bid is another option being mulled over by the management of Ford. If this alternative will push through, Hyundai and Tata-Fiat are expected to be the top choices among the many auto bidders.

Sources from the Land Rover division said that a feasibility study of making India another auto market is being carried out by Land Rover. If the study can produce positive results, Ford vehicles are expected to be out in the Indian market in just a few months.

Ford also claimed that at present, Volvo is not among the brands to be put up for sale.

Ford Craves for Total Sale of Land Rover and Jaguar

Posted by writer  Published in Ford Land Rover, Ford Jaguar, Ford News

Ford Motor Company recently asserted that it wants a total sale of its Land Rover and Jaguar units. The world renowned automotive company also declared at the Frankfurt International Motor Show that though a total deal is what it wants, it is still too early to decide on whether it will maintain a stake in its two premier brands.

According to Vice President of Ford Motor Company’s European arm Lewis Booth, the interest in selling Land Rover and Jaguar came out from the need to support Ford’ s financial and structural revamp. “We’re selling the business because we need the money and we need the focus.”

Ford is expecting to sell Jaguar and Land Rover by the first few months of next year, if not the end of this year. This venture is expected to boost the sales of the company, which actually dropped 12.6 billion dollars in 2006.

According to analysts, the two units can bring Ford an estimated amount of 1.5 billion dollars. In view of that, though Ford is still likely to lose about 15 billion dollars, the sale of the two brands is deemed to help in bringing back the company’s profitability by 2009.

Several individuals and companies have already raised interest on the two Ford brands. One of these is Former Ford President Nick Scheele, who tied up last month with New York-based Ripplewood Holdings in a business offer for Land Over and Jaguar. Another bid is being led by Former Ford Chief Executive Jacques Nasse, who represents the JPMorgan Chase associate One Equity Partners. Moreover, Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata expressed last month his company’ s interest in the two Ford brands.

Tata Group Wants Ford’s Jaguar and Land Rover

Posted by writer  Published in Ford Land Rover, Ford Jaguar, Ford News

Tata Group, the most enterprising corporation in India, recently expressed an interest in getting hold of the well-renowned Jaguar and Land Rover brands of Ford Motor Company.

Previous reports stated that the Tata Group had offered to buy Land Rover and Jaguar. Although it is not yet established that an actual bidding occurred between the two conglomerates, Chairman of Tata Group Ratan Tata finally broke public confusion about the Indian company’s business interest over the two Ford vehicle lines. According to Tata, the interest of Tata Group in obtaining the two Ford names rests upon two primary objectives: to trim down the company’s reliance on the Indian market and to boost the international standing of Tata Motors.

The Jaguar on the Go

Ford Motor Company’s Executive Vice President Lewis Booth declared that Ford would pronounce a sale only after September. On the other hand, Ford is continuously discussing proposals with several companies, which made a bid for the two brands last month. According to those who know much about the biddings, large initial offers came from private firms such as Cerberus Capital Management, TPG, Cerberus Capital Management, and Ripplewood Holdings and One Equity Partners. Moreover, another dynamic Indian company, Mahindra & Mahindra, is reportedly one of the bidders.

Ford Motor Company shelled out $2.7 billion for Land Rover and $2.5 billion for Jaguar some years ago. For such great investments, they aim nothing but the finest standing for the two vehicle lines. The company aspires to achieve optimum sale of Land Rover and Jaguar by the end of this year. It also wants to assure that an exceedingly reputable corporation would be the one to successfully acquire Jaguar and Land Rover.
